Spring 2022 Open House Series

SEPTA is analyzing future land use and potential connections at and around KOP Rail's five planned stations, including sidewalks and trails. In spring 2022, SEPTA held and open house series to hear from the community on what they would like the area around the stations to be like in the future. DECEMBER 2021 UPPER MERION TOWNSHIP OPEN HOUSE

On December 7, 2021, SEPTA hosted a KOP Rail Open House for Upper Merion Township residents and business owners to learn about KOP Rail project's recent entry into the Federal Transit Administration’s New Starts grant program and next steps. DEIS Public Meetings

Six public meetings were held during the Alternatives Analysis and preparation of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS). The DEIS was released for public review on October 13, 2017, with a comment period that ended on December 4, 2017. The public comment period culminated in a series of Public Hearings on November 13 and 15, 2017, where the findings of the DEIS were summarized and all public comments are entered into the official record.

  • Pre-Scoping

    A series of three public meetings were held in January 2013 in King of Prussia, Villanova, and Norristown. The meetings were designed to introduce the public to the project, present the results of early studies and preliminary alternatives for the proposed extension of the Norristown High Speed Line. Attendees were provided an opportunity to comment.

  • Scoping

    A Public Scoping Meeting was held on July 16, 2013, at the Radisson Hotel - Valley Forge in King of Prussia, PA. Hosted by SEPTA, and in cooperation with the Federal Transportation Administration (FTA), the meeting was part of a formal scoping process that began with the publication of the Notice of Intent (NOI). The meeting served as an opportunity for elected officials, resource agencies, and the public to provide comments and testimony on the scope of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), including the project’s purpose and need, the alternatives to be considered, and the impacts to be evaluated.

  • Tier 1

    The purpose of the meeting held on January 30, 2014, at the Radisson Hotel in Valley Forge, was to provide officials, stakeholders, and the public a summary of input and comments received during the July 2013 Public Scoping Meeting. SEPTA was available to discuss the potential for a mix of elevated and at-grade segments along the project’s proposed alignments, which was introduced in response to public comments and input regarding the proposed elevated rail alternative alignments. Officials and the public were invited to view a description of the potential rail alternatives, including fast facts and visualizations.

  • Tier 2

    The purpose of the meetings held on November 17, 2014, at the Radisson Valley Forge and on November 19, 2014, at the Norristown Municipal Building was to provide officials, stakeholders, and the public an overview of recent activities, including the results of the Tier 2 screening of proposed alternatives. Participants were invited to view maps of the Retained Alternatives and provide input and feedback. SETPA and the project team were available to answer questions and provide additional information.

  • Alternatives

    The purpose of the public workshops on March 16, 2015, at the Radisson Valley Forge and March 25, 2015 at the DoubleTree Hotel Valley Forge was to provide officials, stakeholders, and the public an opportunity to review each of the Build Alternatives in detail. Following a short presentation, participants were invited to discuss potential benefits and impacts with project staff, in small group work sessions.

  • LPA

    The purpose of the KOP Rail Public Meetings held in March 2016 was to announce a Recommended Locally Preferred Alternative (Recommended LPA), and seek input from public officials, stakeholders and the public. Meetings were held in both King of Prussia and Norristown, and included an open house plans display, renderings of the Recommended LPA, and a 50-minute presentation. All meetings included a question and answer session following the presentation.
